A new pathway for up-and-coming artists to join the Cicada community.
So you want to play Cicada..
Every year, artists ask how they can apply to play Cicada. So this winter, we’re launching the Emerging Artist Showcase — a curated audition series for self-represented artists early in their careers.
Showcase submissions open now until February 28.
The Emerging Artist Showcase is for artists who:
Are self-represented
Have fewer than 3 full-length albums
Are ready to perform live with original material
Want to be part of a supportive festival community
Don’t meet these criteria? You can still submit through the Established Artists Submissions page.

Digital applications will open in February. Submit your bio, streaming links, live footage, socials, and contact info.

We will select 12 artists as a shortlist for the live showcase. These 12 artists will be voted online on our website for one of 6 showcase spots.

Selected artists perform a 30-40 minute set at our emerging artist showcase in St. Catharines (location TBA).

One finalist will be invited to perform at Cicada 2026 and may be considered for additional programming throughout the year. Three Finalists will also take part in a curated artist-development session with knowledgeable industry members—an opportunity to gain insight, ask questions, and receive tailored feedback to help grow their careers.
Cicada Music & Arts has always been about discovering what’s next. Our Emerging Artist Showcase is where new voices get their shot—performing live in front of a panel of industry judges and a room full of music lovers.
